and the REAL answer is….
drumroll please….
…the one that fits. you’ll have to have an optometrist (if you’re in the US) or an optician (if you’re in the UK) take measurements and look at different lenses on your eye to see what fits and what doesnt. eyes come in all different shapes and sizes, not just all different “prescriptions”. (part of the contact lens “prescription” will specify the brand/size/shape/material/wate… content, etc etc)
that being said, our number one seller at our office right now for spherical wear is acuvue oasys. but just like i said above, not everyone fits in that lens. its got a pretty small diameter (14.0 mm), so anyone with a very large cornea wont fit. likewise it only comes in a STEEP (8.4) base curve as well, so anyone with a FLAT cornea wont fit in it, either.
some eye doctor needs to recommend a lens for you after they evaluate your eye and see what fits and what doesnt.
oasys is good for complaints of dryness IMO, as are BIOFINITY by coopervision and biomedics XC, also by coopervision. ….if they fit your eye, of course
